Catching up with 2007

I’ve been pretty lazy with my diary this year. It’s not that I’ve had nothing to talk about, or no pictures to upload, I’ve just not yet found the motivation to do it.
Anyway, to get things rolling, here are a few photos of what you’ve (not) been missing.
Me on track at Cadwell Park, back in June 2006:

Bikeshow 2006 at the NEC
by Jon on Oct.29, 2006, under General, Motorbikes, Photography
Yesterday we went to the bike show at the NEC with a couple of friends from Suffolk. I’d been to the bike show in 2004 but wasn’t too impressed with it. And so it was with some reservation that I went to this one, expecting it to be another anti-climax.
I was pleasantly surprised, and we had a fantastic day out. There were loads of bikes, not just new but old ones from the Motorcycle Museam too, including an Indian 4 which is owned by Carol Nash herself!
I should warn you before you click ‘more’ that there are a lot of photos in this post.

I’ll see you in court!
by Jon on Mar.22, 2006, under General, Motorbikes
Back in October 2005 I was knocked off my bike on the M6. It wasn’t a bad accident really, traffic was stationary and I was filtering quite slowly.
A car pulled out on me without looking or indicating, leaving me no room to react. There was a collision, and I fell off my bike.
That was back in October. Now, even if the 3rd party refused to admit fault, I would have thought it would be all sorted by now, but no!
Just spoken to my insurers, and they’ve said the 3rd party are being uncooperative. Therefore they’re issuing a court summons to them so that we can get everything sorted.
So, fingers crossed I’ll soon have the money to repair the broken bits on my bike and have things sorted for the summer!
Meals on Wheels

The other day, somebody raised the question about whether it would be possible to cook a bacon sandwich on the exhaust of a motorbike. They tried, and failed. Having looked at their method (placing the bacon on the exhaust silencer), I decided to see if I could do any better…

New Brake Discs
by Jon on Sep.13, 2005, under Motorbikes
My bike failed its MOT yesterday. The front brake discs were warped (I knew that already), but also the front calipers were binding slightly, and the front wheel bearings needed replacing.
So, since I need an MOT to legally ride my bike and the garage deemed my bike “unsuitable for road use”, I ended up having to fork out for new bearings, brake discs and pads. Luckily, the brake discs were on special offer in the garage I got them from. In most shops the discs alone cost £400, but I managed to get the discs and pads together for £300!
Here’s what my front wheel looks like now:
